Airplane Birthday Party Photos – II

Posted on Sunday, April 26th, 2009

I went back and forth about the cake. I didn’t know if I wanted to go with cake or cupcakes. I couldn’t decide…so I went with both! Dan and I made the cake topper airplane out of Crayola Model Magic. Derek loved seeing the airplane on everything. He would get so excited every time he saw it. For the cupcakes, I added flags. Some with the airplane graphic and the others with his age, 2.

Aww, I love the picture of him blowing out his candles.  Such a big boy!

I probably got a little carried away with the airplane theme.  I decided to serve the guests, pre-packaged lunches.

The kids had a great time playing with all the toys Derek received.

Thank you to everyone that helped us celebrate Derek’s birthday!

Happy Birthday Derek!

Posted on Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Derek had a great day celebrating his birthday. We have wonderful friends and family that came to the house for an airplane themed party. The party was a huge success. I think Derek had a great time! Poor Lucas, he slept through all but about 30 minutes of the party. That’s ok, his turn in 3 weeks!

For Christmas last year, Dan got me some awesome video editing software. We just installed it today. So, I threw this slideshow together quickly.

We love you Derek!

Easter Baskets

Posted on Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Last year I was a bad mom and didn’t get Derek an Easter basket. Luckily, he has a great aunt that usually picks up where I fall short. easter1

This year, I will be a good mom and get them Easter baskets! I was thrilled when I opened these last night. Aren’t they cute?! I want to order one for every kid I know!

I purchased them from Ceadar Hill Heirlooms. The workmanship is amazing! And the turn around time is very fast. You can see their store here.

Terrible Two’s?

Posted on Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

This has been a rough couple of weeks at our house. To start, it’s been a long winter! I think we all have a major case of cabin fever. Additionally, both boys are teething. This means that we are getting very little sleep. To top it all off, I think Derek is going through the terrible two stage. He has always been pretty easy going and well behaved. Here is a list of some of the naughty things he has done lately.

* Scribbled with black Sharpie and yellow highlighter all over Dan’s computer monitors. Luckily, it came off! It wasn’t fun calling Dan at work to let him know.

* He broke a glass candle in the bathroom. This candle had been there, untouched, for two years.

* Playing in the toilet. I heard laughing and water splashing and knew I better investigate. I thought I would find them playing in the tub with toys that still had leftover water in them. Nope, this is what I found.

Fun times playing in toilet

Derek is trying to pretend that he had nothing do to with it. But, he is just as wet as Lucas. You can’t really tell in the picture, but they were both soaked!

* I was feeding Lucas his bottle on the couch. I kept hearing something hitting the floor…blackberries! He thought this was a ton of fun!

Add to the list, squeezing the tube of anything he can find, lotion, toothpaste, conditioner….the list goes on. While most of this may sound like normal child’s play….it isn’t normal for Derek.

Ugh…recounting all this just makes me tired!:)

Lucas has been equally difficult in his own way. Come back for that story!
